Instructor Biographies


Barry Morris

Mr. Morris brings more than 29 years of business and corporate management experience to Dronitek. He has over 5,200 hours of fixed wing aircraft flight time including over 2,200 hours of manned flight instruction given, 34 years of accident/incident free flight operations and experience in over 35 different aircraft makes and models. Barry is currently flying as a FAA certified flight instructor in both single and multi-engine aircraft. He also holds a FAA Advanced Ground Instructor and Remote Pilot certificate and was awarded the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Flight Instructor Excellence Honor Roll recognition in 2013, 2014 and again for 2015. As a chief flight instructor, he has worked closely with the FAA in developing training curriculum for FAR Part 141 flight schools in addition to operating his own flight academy and is our chief instructor at Dronitek. He is passionate about aviation and strongly believes in providing the highest level of training to all our students.


Doug Wiedman

Mr. Wiedman is Dronitek's lead flight instructor for our Mapping and Modeling and First Responder certification courses in addition to teaching our basic sUAS flight skills training course. Doug holds an AS in Computer Technology, BS in Political Science, MA in International Relations, CA POST certificate, FAA Remote Pilot certificate, FLIR Level 1 sUAS certification in Thermography, as well as multiple FAA Part 107 Certificates of Wavier. In addition, he holds certificates from Pix4d as well as specific training in collision reconstruction utilizing sUAS. He is a retired Deputy Sherriff and a current law enforcement Remote Pilot with extensive experience training and developing sUAS programs for public safety and is currently a sUAS pilot instructor and Subject Matter Expert (SME) to 22 regional agencies and 4 counties including several California State agencies. He has trained hundreds of students and assisted multiple public safety agencies in developing their own training programs including night operations.


Bill Granados 

As an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate holder, Bill has been involved with sUAV’s for over 5 years.  After retiring from a 25 year law enforcement career, he has transitioned his knowledge, experience, and instructing abilities to the sUAS community.  Bill has been an instructor in the law enforcement community for over 18 years, instructing various disciplines such as Vehicle Collision investigation, Motorcycle and Vehicle operations, and the use of LIDAR as it is applied to speed enforcement. He also brings over 2 years of UAS Mapping knowledge and experience.  With all that knowledge, experience and shared instruction philosophy, Bill joined the Dronitek Instructor Team in the summer of 2018 and teaches the DUU Remote Pilot and Mapping & Modeling courses.


Brian Ziolkowski

 Ex-Military 12B10 Combat Engineer, Class A license - 30 years, Dispatcher/Manager then FAA sUAS Pilot.

 Bill has an interest in anything that flies. He has been building, modifying and flying fixed wing RC aircraft since 1986. Performed with a nationally sponsored demonstration team, The Capital City Barnstormers.

 Specific training includes; FAA Remote Pilot 107 course, Structural Inspection course, UAS Precision Agriculture course and UAS Advanced Cinematography course, all by Drone University USA. Additional training includes OSHA Construction, FEMA, T&D Lines by PrecisionHawk and PG&E.

 Brian has over 1200 commercial flights with the DJI Mavic Pro, Phantom, Inspire 1 - 2 and M600 platforms. The most used to date and favorite is the M600 for its versatility, although the I2 is a close 2nd. 

 Brian is a Dronitek Remote Pilot course instructor and is FLIR ITC Thermology trained.


Alvin Alejandro

Mr. Alejandro possesses over 24 years of teaching experience. He carries an ANSI and a FLIR sUAS Level 1 Thermography certification which is a globally recognized and respected. As an award-winning motorcycle instructor, Alvin never places any bounds, limits, or ways to improve on anything he teaches. As a DUU in-house expert in UAS remote sensors at, Alvin is Dronitek’s lead trainer in our UAS Structure Inspector, Maintenance & Repair and Thermology Certification courses. He continually researches the latest technology and technique through theoretical concepts to real world missions. Alvin has experience in working with 3D modeling, DSM, DTM, DEM, and thermal imaging and has been involved in volunteer-based search and recovery missions. He was also a beta tester for Drone Deploy during it’s launch phase and conducts a very successful public drone awareness program he created entitled, “Drones: An Introduction to a Modern Phenomenon”, which are all conducted through county library systems. Alvin served in the Air Force, received the Desert Shield/Storm Service Recognition Award, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology/Pre-PT, MSF/TCT/CMSP Instructor for 25 years and POST Law Enforcement training. Alvin also heads Dronitek’s enterprise, open platform custom aircraft build unit specializing in utilizing FLIR sensors for specific public safety, educator, corporate and private sector clients. In addition, Alvin owns and operates a successful UAS Mapping company.
