RMUS Selected by NOAA as Preferred Vendor for Unmanned Systems Program Implementation Through 2028

December 21 2023 – JT VonLunen

September 20, 2023 - Rocky Mountain Unmanned Systems ("RMUS") has been selected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ("NOAA") to provide Unmanned Systems hardware solutions and training for a period of five (5) years.

While this is NOAA's first long-term contract related to Unmanned Systems, many individual NOAA agencies have already been using this technology across many disciplines. According to the agency, "UAS serve as a force multiplier for NOAA, augmenting data collection at lower costs, increased safety, and reduced risk. UAS technology improves the collection of traditional scientific data while also providing novel and transformative means of data collection. These data support NOAA's work in fisheries management, weather forecasting, disaster preparedness, and more."

Regarding the NOAA contract award, Michael Kelly, RMUS Director of Government Sales states "We are excited to have been selected by another federal agency which recognizes that UAS solutions require a comprehensive strategy and relationship. NOAA's work is incredibly important on many levels, and we are proud to work with them to facilitate their success with custom UAS solutions."

Prior to this contract award, RMUS already had a successful history of providing Unmanned Systems hardware and training to several NOAA groups over recent years. "Our previous work with NOAA gave us valuable experience on how to best work with federal agencies. We are excited to collaborate with NOAA on a higher level to bring standardized unmanned systems to scale. These types of long-term agreements really allow our strengths in solution specific training and hardware support to shine." says JT Von Lunen, Founder and President of RMUS.

Via this contract, RMUS will provide UAS hardware, software and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) training through August of 2028. RMUS looks forward to working with NOAA on a national level for a successful system-wide scaling of the agency's UAS program.
